Today Monday 1st Dec 2008 I went to the grocery supermarket to lay on some provisions so as not to run out of some of the essentials that help in keeping me on track when I might otherwise fall by the wayside.

My shopping list included some of the obvious locarb basics.

1 gal organic full cream milk.

2 doz free range eggs.

500 ml fresh cream.

500g full cream kerrygold butter (for frying eggs).

1 whole corn fed free range chicken.

2 heads green cabbage.

615g jar full cream mayonnaise.

4 500g Irish striploin steaks.

1K joint loin of bacon (for breakfast rashers).

2 cucumbers.

300 tabs splenda sugar substitute.

I already have plenty of decaf tea and coffee in stock. I also have some full cream natural yogurt and various frozen green vegetables. So I am now quite well stocked to get under way this first week.

In general I will be leaving out sugar, salt, fruit, driet fruit, wheat, rice, oatmeal, pasta, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, and any foods made from those items.

That also means leaving out deserts, cakes, sweets, processed sweet drinks beers and other alcohol and other processed foods.

In general I will be partaking of meat, eggs, green vegetables, full cream milk, cheese and butter, decaf tea and coffee, and of course lots of water.

For the first two or three days I will be particularly strict on myself, confining myself to meat, eggs. cheese, milk, decaf tea or coffee and water The reason for this is so as to change my body energy source over from the food that I eat as I go, to the fat energy reserves on my body.

This stage of a low carb diet is known as "ketosis".

It normally takes approximately 48 hours to get into a state of ketosis. That is when one runs out of stored carbs

I will then make a point of eating less energy carbs each day then I use up while involved in physical activity until I lose the desired amount of weight.

The main trick to keeping on this weight management diet is to always have sufficient of the allowed foods to hand, so as not to get hungry and trip one's self up in the early stages. As the days go by it becomes so much easier to keep to the required regimen.

Once one manages to stay of carbs for a short time I.e. a few days or a week then hunger becomes more infrequent and even extinct and a sweet tooth declines.

This information as to my diet intentions is only part of the story and will be added to over the coming days, weeks and months.

Talk later.

Hi fellow club members<br>and congratulations on your decision to take control of your healthful future.

it is not always easy to stick to a healthy food diet, but with the support that we give each other it will definitely be easier than it may otherwise be on a lonely path.

As the old irish saying goes "Giorríonn beirt bothar". "Two together shorten the road".

Or, pull together, on we go.
